    Papago 7.25.16

Overview: It was a hot day at Papago with the greens rolling smooth and the fairways in great shape. I have been practicing my putting more lately and it paid off with 12 putts on each nine.

    Highlights:

#1: Driver down the left side of the fairway. Then 3-wood from 275 yards up the hill to 12 feet and made the left to right putt for eagle.

#3: Driver down the right side of the fairway. Then 6-iron from 190 yards to 4 feet and made the 4 footer in the center of the hole for birdie.

#7: Driver just in the right rough. Then hit 9-iron from 165 yards to 7 feet and made the straight uphill putt for birdie.

#15: Driver in the left rough. Then driver off the deck from 290 yards to pin high in the desert 30 yards to the right of the green. From there I hit 60 degree lob wedge to the fringe and made a 15 footer for birdie.

#18: Driver down the right side of the fairway. Then 8-iron from 175 yards to 15 feet and made the putt for birdie.

Positives: Putting was solid with no misses inside 5 feet. Also, did a good job making quite a few right to left putts.

Areas to Improve: Will work on hitting the driver more solid and also making better decisions on shots out of fairway bunkers and out of trouble. On number 12, I was in the desert and tried to get too cute with my approach shot and ended up scrambling for bogey. On number 16, I was in a fairway bunker and picked the wrong club and hit the lip of the fairway bunker and ended up scrambling for bogey again.  On numbers 9 and 10 my drives put me in tough spots which led to pars on holes that I normally birdie.
