Overview: It was a great day for golf at Starfire today and I’m very glad that I had the opportunity to play! The course was in great shape and the weather was about 90 degrees and sunny. Starfire is a short but tricky course with narrow fairways and challenging par 3’s.
Highlites:
#9: Driver into the right trees into a lie in some mud. I had 217 to the hole and hit a 60 yard slice with my 3-wood under some trees to the edge of the green. From there I chipped to 4 feet and made the putt for birdie.
#12: Driver pin-high into the greenside bunker. From there I blasted out to 2 feet for an easy birdie.
#13: Driver down the middle of the fairway to 179 yards from the flag. My ball found a bad lie so I hit a 6-iron just short of the green. From there I chipped to 4 feet and made the putt for birdie.
#17: 9 iron to 10 feet and made the putt for birdie.
Positives: I stuck to my mental process and gave myself lots of looks at birdie. Putting was solid and chipping and pitching were also nice and aggressive.
Areas to improve: Focus on hitting the center of the clubface with my driver and also practice more fairway bunker shots.
