• Tournament Recap: Pro-Scratch Golf League at Silverado Golf Club

Overview: Great weather and the course was in good shape with the greens rolling really well. I just got new irons, so this was my first round with them and I am happy with their performance, especially the long irons.

    Highlites:

#1. Driver into just barely into the left rough and then hit an 8-iron from 172 yards to just in front of the green. Then chipped to 3 feet and made the putt.

#3. Driver into the right rough behind some trees. Then hit a low hooking 5 iron under and around to the trees from 188 yards to 14 feet and made the putt for birdie.

#5. Driver into the left greenside bunker and then hit the explosion shot to a foot for a tap-in birdie.

#6 and #8 hit solid 5-iron fade shots to about 15 feet on each hole for easy two-putt pars.

#11. Driver barely into the left rough and then 4-iron to just in front of the green. Then chipped my 50 degree wedge to 3 feet and made the putt for birdie.

#14. Driver must have hit the cart path because I only had 180 yards in from the right rough. My ball was in tall grass and I had to hook it under and around a tree. I did and the ball ended up just a few feet over the green. I almost chipped in and made 2 footer for birdie.

Positives: I hit some really good long iron shots which is the main reason I got new irons. I can now hit my 4-iron about 230 and my 5-iron about 210 which makes it a lot easier on the long par 3s and hitting 2nd shots into par 5’s. Also, my up and down percentage inside 50 yards was 100%.

Areas to improve: Driver was a little weak today. I only had one bad miss, but never really hit it solid. I will practice hitting it solid in the future.
