• Tournament Recap: Scottsdale, AZ Open

Overview:  Talking Stick North is a relatively long course with wide fairways and really grainy greens. The first day there was a strong wind when I played in the afternoon, but the last two days the there wasn’t much wind. Also, the ball was going really far in the heat, which was a lot of fun. I’m very thankful to have had the experience of playing this tournament, as I haven’t played a tournament with a big purse in quite a while. The guys running the event did a great job and I definitely will be looking forward to next year.

    Highlites Day One:

#5. Driver down the middle. Then lob wedge to 7 feet and made the putt for birdie.

#17. Driver down the middle. Then hybrid from 260 yards to left fringe and chipped it close for an easy birdie.

    Highlites Day Two:

#2. Driver down the middle. Then 4-iron from 240 yards to 12 feet and two putted for birdie.

    #8. 9-iron from 155 to a foot for a tap-in birdie.

#9. Driver into the left desert and then pitching wedge from 135 yards to 6″ for a tap-in birdie.

#13. Driver down the middle and then lob wedge to 6 feet and made that putt for birdie.

    Highlites Day Three:

#2. Driver down the middle of the fairway and then hit 5 iron from 230 t0 30 feet and two putted for birdie.

#17. Driver down the middle and then driver off the deck from 290 to left of the green and pitched it close for a birdie.

Positives: 35 out of 42 fairways was great. Also, overall ball striking was very consistent and putting is improving as well. I was feeling my right shoulder under an hitting fades into the greens which was working really well. Also, I backed away when I wasn’t focused and also did a good job of going through my routine on every shot.

Areas to improve: Keep practicing making more putts from 5 to 15 feet and keep practicing hitting it close from the fairway. My scoring is close, I will break through and win one pretty soon.
