Golf Set-up: How high to tee the golf ball

Teeing the golf ball at the correct height makes a big difference in the outcome of your tee shot. Here’s how I do it:

Tee height Driver

When teeing off with the driver, I like to have about 1/2 to 1/3 of the golf ball sticking up above the top of the club-head at address. I use the same principle (1/2 to 1/3 of the ball above the top of the club-head) when teeing up my 3-wood and hybrid as well.

Tee height, IronWith my irons, I tee the ball as if it was resting on the grass with a good lie. The center of gravity on the head of an iron is near the bottom of the club-head. If you tee the ball too high, you will hit it high on the club-face and the ball will not fly as far as you were expecting.

Next time you’re out on the course, I hope you keep the correct tee height in mind: It makes a big difference!
