• Pepsi Tour at Ocotillo

    Day 1:

I shot one over, 73, in round one of the Pepsi Tour event on the Blue and Gold Ocotillo Golf Course in Chandler, AZ. It is a two day tournament, so I have tomorrow to look forward to. I am very happy with how I stuck to my routine even though I started off with a few bogeys.

On the par 5, 15th hole, I hit my tee shot into the water and had to take a drop. At this point I was 3 over par for the tournament. I had 250 yards to the green, with the ball well above my feet. I took out my 3-wood and hit the best shot of the day onto the back fringe of the green, and got up and down for par. On that shot I felt something in my swing that got me back on track. After that, I hit every shot exactly at my target. On 16, I hit it to 20′ and chipped in for birdie, and then on 17 I hit it a 6 iron to 7′ and made the putt for birdie. I parred the last hole to finish at one over, in a solid position for the final round tomorrow.

Praise God for giving me the ability to focus on the next shot and not worry about my rough start! I am excited for tomorrow’s round. I will post about it tomorrow.

    Day 2:

I shot 3 over, 75, today to wrap up the tournament. My scoring wasn’t good, but I am headed in the right direction. This tournament was great practice for me to stick with my routine and enjoy each shot, even though the results weren’t great. I stuck with my game plan and am excited to get back to playing full time soon.
