Overview: Talking Stick is a great course with tricky greens with subtle breaks and lots of grain on the greens. I was glad for the experience I gained, but I missed the cut.
The first day I started on #1 and played pretty solid except for missing a few short putts on the front nine. Then it got really windy on the back and my 72 wasn’t too bad of a score for the conditions.
The second day, I started on #10 and played the first 9 holes pretty solid. Then faded on the last nine.
Learning Opportunities:
The biggest take-away for me is that I will practice more. Every part of my game just took too much concentration. And under pressure, I made quite a few bad swings because of lack of confidence. Practicing more leads to more confidence.
Positives: I made a lot of birdies, and hit a lot of quality shots.
Areas to improve: More practice time: I’ve laid out a practice plan, and I’m going to stick to it. I’ve been focusing so much on teaching, that I haven’t practiced much over the past 9 months.
